Peel Region residents are in for another weather challenge as Environment Canada issues a special weather statement warning of “strong northwesterly wind gusts tonight.” The statement, released at noon on Friday, highlights potential wind gusts of 70 to 80 km/h for Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon.
According to the agency, these wind gusts are expected to intensify throughout the evening before easing late tonight into Saturday morning as the low-pressure system moves away.
The impact of these strong winds could lead to the tossing of loose objects and the possibility of tree branches breaking, potentially causing utility outages in the area.
This weather event comes after a recent rainfall warning issued for Mississauga and Brampton on Friday morning, with Caledon initially under a special weather statement as well.
The convergence of weather systems, including a low-pressure system originating from Texas, has prompted Environment Canada’s proactive approach in alerting residents to potential weather-related challenges.
Residents are advised to stay updated with local weather reports and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during these weather conditions.
