Peel Regional Police have made a significant arrest in connection with an alleged violent carjacking involving a Ferrari, charging a 16-year-old from Brampton with multiple criminal offenses.
Incident Details
The incident took place on Thursday, March 28, around 8 p.m. in Brampton’s Countryside Drive and Airport Road area. The victims, while in their driveway, were confronted by three individuals, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
Carjacking Details
The suspects demanded money, cellphones, and the keys to the victims’ white 2018 Ferrari Spider. After complying, the victims watched as the accused drove away in their Ferrari, while the other suspects fled on foot, leaving behind a stolen vehicle they had arrived in.
Arrest and Recovery
Peel Regional Police, aided by the York Regional Police hold-up squad, swiftly located the stolen Ferrari in Scarborough, near Finch Avenue East and Neilson Road. The accused was apprehended at the scene, and during the arrest, a loaded Glock 9-mm handgun and the stolen vehicle keys were recovered.
Criminal Charges
The 16-year-old from Brampton faces several serious charges, including robbery with a firearm, wearing a disguise with intent to commit a criminal act, possession of property obtained by crime, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of prohibited weapons and ammunition.
Legal Proceedings
The accused was held for a bail hearing and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the young individual charged remains protected.
This arrest highlights the diligent efforts of law enforcement in responding to and addressing violent criminal activities within the community.
